Shooting Star

Location: Zanzibar

Situated on Zanzibar’s breathtaking eastern coast, Shooting Star Lodge offers beautiful accommodation, a relaxed atmosphere, and sheer tranquillity in the setting of white sands and clear-blue waters.

With whitewashed walls, traditional Zanzibari furniture, high beamed ceilings, flowing mosquito nets and flashes of bright colour, decor in rooms at Shooting Star is authentically African and thoroughly stylish.  If the cool sea breeze isn’t enough, all rooms come with air conditioning and ceiling fans.

Garden Lodge rooms look out onto the tropical garden, and are simply but elegantly decorated.  Sea View Cottages are more spacious, with private verandas from which to enjoy the sea view!  The Suites, meanwhile, are situated up on a rise affording stunning panoramic views. They are set out on three floors with two bedrooms and a private pool.  The rooftop bathtub is romantic and the perfect spot from which to stargaze.  

The infinity pool is wonderful and cooling, with superb views over the beach, towards the reef and on to the shimmering Indian Ocean beyond.  The beach bar is a shaded sanctuary from the midday sun, providing cold drinks and snacks during the day.  The beach area is fitted with shaded bandas, hammocks and sunbeds.

The open-air restaurant is atmospheric, intimate and, according to Lonely Planet, one of the best in Zanzibar.  Enjoy a fresh breakfast, a light lunch and a sumptuous dinner, with both European and African influences, in stunning natural surroundings.

Scuba-diving, snorkelling, fishing, boat excursions and wind-surfing can all be easily arranged from the lodge.
