"Impressed by the views and overall quality"
The lodge is conveniently located between the entrance and exit gates of the caldera (closer to the entrance, a plus if the game-drive starts early in the morning). Since the lodge is at the edge of the crater, the rooms have an outstanding view. We stayed in connected rooms at the top floor where the views are even better. The bar and lunch area has huge glass walls, so having some cocktails/snacks with live African music before the 18:30 show was very relaxing. The shows (acrobats in first night and Masai dance/chanting in the second) are worthwhile to watch and very popular. So get your seats early !
The dinner four-course menu always had interesting options, and lunch is buffet-style. Both were very good, with a mix of western and African choices.
The heaters in the rooms worked very well, and the hot water bottle kept us warm in bed. The hot water bladder was a very good idea that we will copy in winters back home.
The gift shop had a better assortment than in the other Serenas, and Masai women were allowed to sell their articles inside the hotel as well. Just like in the other Serenas in Serengeti and Manyara, the prices were fair compared to local shops.
The only minor negative point is that wireless internet connection was not available.
