Location: Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is a stunning property in one of the northern circuits most rich national parks. Taking inspiration from Lake Manyara’s famous tree-climbing lions, this lodge was constructed amongst the treetops. It is the only lodge within the park boundaries, offering unique luxury in a remote and naturally beautiful setting.

Each suite at this lodge is an innovatively yet tastefully designed tree house, with private veranda and large windows from which to enjoy the views of the surrounding mahogany forest. The natural and indigenous materials used to construct the lodge provide a delightful sense that the outside is somehow invited in – you will never feel separated from the natural wonder around you.

The communal areas all continue the theme of inside out, outside in. The pool offers a cooling oasis under dappled green shadows. There are various spacious decks suspended above the forest floor. The split level dining and bar areas have high ceilings to provide space and air when needed, and should the weather turn chill, guests can retire to warm and inviting indoor wooded areas, to relax on a sofa in a secluded corner.

"Top of the range"

Part of our Northern cirkuit trip, a stop in Manyara is a must, and like so many others we had a nice introduction to the safari trip by staying in Lake Manya Tree Lodge.

Stunning location, excellent service, friendly staff and a feeling of being lost in yesteryear, all we had hoped to experience in Tanzania...

What a start to our safari..

A bit soft on the big 5 safari seekers, actaully very soft, but in combination with the serengeti and ngorongo, Lake Manyara becomes a valuable and fantastic experince.

"Simply Amazing"

This has to be the most unique places you can ever stay in luxury – a tree house. The Ritz meets Swiss Family Robinson. Well loved everything from the outdoor shower to baboons on our deck.

However, this place might not be for everyone. Remember that you are staying in a tree. There will be spider webs in your room and ants on your floor. At night, you are not allowed to walk to your tree house by yourself, you have a masai warrior escort you.

The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. The food was amazing – it’s a set menu so you have to have the mentality of “you get what you get so don’t through a fit.” Don’t get me wrong – it’s all 5-star cuisine.

Each morning your wake-up call is your individual butler waking you up by bringing coffee (or tea or hot chocolate or whatever you like) with biscuits to your tree house. Then you go for breakfast – which is a combination buffet and a cook that will whip something up for you.

Like all &Beyond lodgings, it’s big bucks but it’s also a once in a lifetime experience.
