Just steps away from the beach and the warm waters of Lake Victoria lie five stone bungalows with traditional thatched roofing, shaded by a huge fig tree housing visiting birds. This is the Lukuba Island Lodge, where you can spend the morning watching a vervet monkey tumble in the trees, the afternoon wading in Lake Victoria's waters and the evening reading on the stone porch.

This is the perfect place to relax, and is a haven for nature lovers. Species you might spot include fish eagles and snowy egrets, otters and even Nile crocodiles. The huge green trees are home to cheeky vervet monkeys and striking agama lizards. At Lukuba you can take a leisurely boat ride, go hiking or try a spot of fishing, always surrounded by this wonderful wildlife.

Dining at the lodge takes place in an open stone-walled dining room, affording beautiful views over the bay.
