Location: Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area
On the slopes of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is Gibb’s Farm – a fully operational farm with a fantastic main house and set of cottages, where guests can bask in the warm hospitality, calm their souls with the views outside, and enjoy delicious, home-grown, home-cooked meals. This is an example of supreme African hospitality. The Cottages at Gibb’s Farm have housed many a weary safari-goer for some 80 years. All cottages feature wooden floors, elegant and warm interiors and wraparound windows, from which the views of the surrounds and the flower gardens are simply lovely. The en suite bathrooms offer twin basins, luxurious bathtubs and indoor/outdoor showers to the discerning traveller, and the comfortable living area with open fireplace is the perfect place to relax and soak in the warmth.
The emphasis of style and hospitality is also reflected in the old Farm House, where most of the main facilities are located. Here, you can find a living room with wood burner, reading room leading onto the patio and flower garden, gift shop selling Gibb’s own coffee, and the dining room.
The dining room serves three delicious, filling and sumptuous meals a day. For breakfast you can enjoy a cup of freshly roasted Gibb’s coffee, before digging into fresh fruit, yoghurt, homemade granola and yoghurt. Top it off with a plate of cooked eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes, and a glass of fresh juice.
Lunch is served buffet style, with plenty of fresh produce on offer. Have some wood-oven baked bread, soup, selection of meats and pies, fresh salads and some special African dishes. For dessert, there is chocolate mousse, rice pudding and the signature Gibb’s rhubarb crumble.
Dinner is a four-course affair served at your table.

Reviews & Testimonials of Gibb's Farm
"A true heritage"
I was definitely expecting a colonial experience in the midst of forest surrounded by the conservation area. What I found was lot more and even after two months still relishing the vivid memory of a great experience which we shared with the people of Gibb's Farm.We enjoyed our own small safari around the farm which they called "Rhythm of the Farm", something which we will never forget like milking the cows, making our cheeses, bread making etc.
Time around the vegetable garden was magical which drew us closer to our childhood. Refreshing meals made from the organic produce, picked twice for freshness. The Chef was very pleasant who took us around the kitchen and explained in details all the ecological concerns they have taken care at the Farm. The food was very appetizing and presentation very contemporary, no wonder they got a mention in Good Safari guide .
The evening fire was a very nice touch during the turndown. Wish to return where we enjoyed some of the best moments of our life.

"Simply one of the best places we have ever stayed in the world."
We visited Gibbs Farm as a three-generation family party, with ages ranging from 65 to 2. We all loved the experience. Gibbs provides an outstanding model for sustainable tourism. The beautiful cottages were built by local workers mostly from local materials (90% plus) and are very stylish and tasteful. The water is heated by solar power. All the extensive range of vegetables in the restaurant are grown in the hotel's own 10 acre vegetable garden and milk, yoghurt, cheese, beef and bacon come from the farm. Visits to garden and farm are welcomed. Coffee is grown on the estate and guests can join in the morning ritual of coffee bean roasting. The food is excellent and copious. What makes Gibbs a truly world class place is the way in which the staff welcome their guests and go out of their way to be helpful and share their enthusiasm for the project. They are local and take pride in the place. They will readily cross their formal functional boundaries to provide service and assistance and in a way which is friendly, polite and respectful without ever being servile. This is an incredibly impressive and uplifting place to visit. Stay at least two nights and relax into it.gandnmunro from , Scotland
