Sweetwaters Tented Camp

Sweetwaters Tented Camp is a sheltered oasis in the heart of a private conservancy, offering all the luxury and special touches you would expect from any Serena establishment.  

The camp consists of 39 luxury tents spread across the plains of Mount Kenya, each boasting a private veranda with safari chairs and tables, from which you can enjoy a lovely watering hole vista.  Each tent is fully equipped with en suite bathroom, canvas interiors and delightful thatched roofs.  Electricity is provided 24 hours using a generator.

Dining takes place in the Rhino Dining Room, which has floor to ceiling windows overlooking the watering hole.  A full cooked and continental breakfast service is offered, and lunch is served buffet style with meat, poultry, fish and vegetarian options.  The table d'hôte dinner menus feature a fresh salad buffet, soup, entrée, pudding, cheeses and tea or coffee.  Wherever possible, the fresh produce is sourced from local communities.

The Water Hole Bar is located in a “hide” and offers prime wildlife viewing, as well as a range of fine wines, local and imported beers and premium spirits.  Teas, coffees and a range of fresh juices are also served.

Activities at Sweetwaters Tented Camp include game drives (day and night), lion tracking in the conservancy, excursions to the chimpanzee sanctuary, the conservancy's education centre and local village, camel riding and ornithological walks.  For a relaxing treat at the end of a long day, try swimming, sunbathing or a treatment at the Maisha Spa.

There are a lot of extra services catered specifically to families, such as babysitting, children's menus, high-chairs and early dining times.  Children will love the activities on offer and can join in with everything, from family breakfasts by the riverside to local school visits.  There are a wide variety of board games on offer, and for something more educational, children can enjoy one of the nightly wildlife talks.
