Location: Shaba Game Reserve

Named after the Shaba mountain, an extinct volcano in the corner of the reserve, the Shaba Game Reserve is one of three quite unique game parks in Kenya. The Sarova Shaba Game Lodge, located in the middle of this volcanic area, is a therefore real oasis. Spring water flows throughout the lodge to form beautiful water cascades, creating an oasis of lush tropical vegetation, before sparkling into the Uaso Nyriro River, a natural haven for crocodiles.

The Sarova Shaba has 80 chalet-style standard rooms plus 5 suites. Every room in this lodge has a private balcony giving onto the river and game park, en suite bathrooms with and WC, running hot and cold water, mosquito netting, overhead fans and tea and coffee making facilities. The suites are set in the manicured gardens and have the added luxury of a separate lounge area, and the Born Free suite has a dining area and private Jacuzzi.

The Surpelei Restaurant, serving African, European and Asian dishes, sits on stilts and overlooks the river and swimming pool, and offers stunning views of the park and its wildlife. There is also a salad buffet made using produce from the lodge's own vegetable and herb garden. There is one bar on the river banks and one poolside bar, plus a variety of bush dining options for the adventurous souls among you!
The open air restaurant overlooks the superb free-form pool, river and gardens of the hotel.

"Sarova Shaba Lodge"

We stayed here for the first two nights of our safari. When we arrived we were amazed as we approached the lodge it appeared out of no where and was a little oasis in the middle of the reserve. The lodge is outstanding on arrival afetr a 6 hour drive from nairobi we were met with cold towels and fresh fruit juice. check in was painless and efficient. our room was beautifully furnished fully equipped with 'mossi nets'. Food was delicious and plentiful, the selection was suitable for all diets and tastes. The main part of the hotel is like a tree house absolutly amazing!!!!!
