Location: Tsavo West
Sitting on high stilts above watering holes and feeding pastures, the Sarova Salt Lick Lodge offers a full and unparalleled game viewing experience, without compromising on any of the luxury you would expect from any Sarova establishment. This lodge has a prime location in the very heart of the private Taita Hills Sanctuary, bordering the fantastic Tsavo West National Park. The lodge itself is architecturally stunning. Rooms at the lodge are in small, round lodges raised high above the watering hole, split on two levels, with either double, twin or triple beds. Each individual lodge is connected by well lit, elevated walkways. All rooms offer fantastic and uninterrupted views from virtually every angle, and the watering hole is floodlit at night so your game viewing need never stop. Rooms are luxuriously furnished with well-designed quality bathrooms.
Dining at the Sarova Salt Lick Lodge is characterised by freshness and variety. The kitchen is supported by produced procured from the vegetable and herb garden of the nearby Sarova Taita Hills Lodge. The Bura Restaurant also overlooks the watering hole, naturally, and cuisine involved an eclectic mix of African, European and Asian dishes. The salad buffet is always fresh, and the dessert buffet is always mouthwatering. Above the Bura, on a shaded terrace, is the Vuria Bar – a wonderful place to wind down with a coffee or a cocktail and watch the hive of wildlife activity below you.
The Sarova Salt Lick Lodge offers both day and night time game drives. During the day, early morning and late afternoon game drives tend to provide the best game viewing. You can also go down to the underground tunnel and bunker, providing up-close views of animals the likes of which you'll never have experienced before. The night drives are a great way of spotting more elusive creatures, and trained rangers with spotlights will take you on a particularly thrilling wildlife journey.
Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary is a fantastic place to take nature walks. A leisurely walk through the bush will be both beautiful and educational. Wildlife talks can provide even more information to the curious guest. Visits to nearby villages can also be arranged, and always prove popular.
For something more relaxing, try taking a dip in the free form swimming pool at the Saltlick's sister property, the Taita Hills Game Lodge.

Reviews & Testimonials of Salt Lick Lodge
"Very unique experience"
We stayed in the lodge for one night during our safari. When we arrived we were very suprised to see this almost kind of 'castle'-like building built on stilts high above the ground.
The towers are connected to eachother by hanging bridges. This hotel truly is a very special place to stay, as because of the high buildings, the animals can come very close to the hotel without any fear.
It's truly a unique experience to see all the impalas, baboons, jackalls, vultures, and all the other animals just pass trough underneath you while you are in great comfort in the lodge. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are really nice aswell. Food and drinks ok!

"The best safari lodge"
Stayed here for 3 nights whilst on Honeymoon in Mombasa, by road it takes 2-3 hours depending on your driver and traffic. Saltlick is located in Tsavo west, both east and west are fantastic for Safari and we got to see all the animals including the big 5!
Saltlick is an amazing hotel built on stilts over a watering hole so you get to see everything day and night from the hotel bar, restaurant and your room. The hotel is small and intermate, the rooms are round in shape and have breath taking views across Tsavo, rooms have no AC but do have amazingly fast roof fans.
Bathrooms are also good and showers have good water pressue considering where you are. Restaurant food is very good, buffet style with good choice, drinks reasonably priced. Thebar in the hotel is open fronted and you can enjoy a drink whiist watching elephant and other amazing animals drinking right in front of you.
Words cannot describe how incredible it is,my wife spent most nights crying she was so moved with the experience. Its a truly incredible experience, cannot recomend it enough.
