Location: Lamu

Lamu House consists of two houses situated close to Lamu's historical centre. This establishment offers the height of comfort and modern luxury in the shell of traditional Swahili architecture.

Each room in Lamu House differs from the next, with varying character and style. Each has its own bathroom, a dressing room and private terrace. Shafts of light and a light breeze filter through the delightful lattice windows. Peering through the holes, guests will be greeted with the view of a dhow sailing by, or perhaps the rooves of the city, or at night, a blanket of bright stars.

The staff at Lamu House are dedicated to catering to each guests needs, no matter how small or trifling. The in-house chef takes international inspiration and uses fresh produce to create sumptuous and delicious dishes.

"Ever thought about doing nothing!!!"

From our arrival till we got back onto the plain it was a fantastic holiday.
We stayed In Lamu House for 1 week. And the first thing we did there after the climb to Kilimanjaro was doing nothing... It was great!!!
The hotel has 1 big swimming pool and 2 small ones. One of the small pools is in a lovely authentic room, private from other parts of the hotel. If you want total relaxation, just like us, there is the possibility to have a massage, believe us it was good. Breakfast is amazing, just ask the chef if you'd like something special, or if you like to have breakfast on your private balcony.
(The rooms, which are lovely, all have a big separate balcony ) The restaurant is delicious. All the ingredients are local and fresh. Try "vongole"!!! For travellers that like a little bit more action there are a lot of possibilities. I tried the mountain bike safari through some local villages and the wonderful nature of the island.
We also made a dhowtrip on one of the dhows (typical fishermansboat) from the hotel, the captain makes sure you get enough fresh drinks and a delicious meal, we didn't had the time but you could also stay up to three days on the dhow. In one word "Excellent"
