For this week’s blog post, I am going to choose my favourite Kenya safari itineraries and tell you why I like them. To make it even more interesting (and harder for me to narrow down), I am only going to choose one safari per duration type, ranging from 2 days up until 9 days. This is also a useful way of giving an idea of what you can expect to do on your safari, depending on how much time you have.
2 Day Kenya Safari
For a 2 day safari, this Lake Nakuru itinerary is perfect! The National Park is home to some of Africa’s greatest predators, including the Lion, African Hunting Dog and Leopard. What makes this park so unique is its lake, which plays home to a few Flamingo… When I say a few, I actually meant over a million! The Greater and Lesser varieties of Flamingo line the shores of the lake to feast upon the algae which grows there. From a distance, the flocks can give the impression that the lake is pink!

3 Day Kenya Safari
With so much to see and do in Amboseli, this safari will ensure you see the best bits of such a wildlife and scenery rich park. This park is not only famous for its breath taking view of the largest free standing Mountain in the world, Mount Kilimanjaro, but also for the huge population of elephants that inhabit the park. The population is estimated to currently be around 1,600. They can be seen travelling slowly across the park in huge herds.
You will be spend 2 nights in Amboseli Serena Lodge, where at night, whilst enjoying a glass of your favourite tipple, you will have a dimly lit, atmospheric view of the bush that surrounds the lodge. Last time I stayed here, we saw a pack of Hyena sneaking past (only about 10 metres away from where we were sitting) as we sat and enjoyed our beverages!

For those who like a challenge, this 5 day Mount Kenya trek will give you the perfect opportunity to quench your thirst for adventure! Many people climb this Mountain in 3-4 days, however to give yourself time to acclimatise, taking 5 days is a good measure to ensure that you complete the trek whilst remaining fit, healthy and alert enough to actually enjoy reaching the summit – and believe me, this is an experience you will want to make the most of!
