Matt

Matt is the manager of Kiba Point, a private 4-room safari lodge on the banks of the majestic Rufiji River in the northern Selous Game Reserve. Famed for its size, diversity, and unrivalled populations of many large mammals, the Selous is Matt’s latest stomping ground in Tanzania. Previously, Matt assisted the Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute with its research in the eastern Selous, and he also worked in Njombe, Tanzania for Travel for Change International starting a community-based cultural tourism project. His infatuation with Tanzania’s wildlife began in 2007 when he studied wildlife ecology all over the northern circuit from Mazumbai Forest Reserve in the Usambara Mountains to Serengeti National Park. To culminate that experience, he researched man-eating lion attacks in Babati District near Tarangire National Park. After all this moving around, Matt is thrilled to be entering his second year at Kiba.

Why the Selous?
